Description
The Red-Breasted Nuthatch (Sitta canadensis) is a small songbird. The adult has blue-grey wings with a cinnamon colored breast, a white throat and face with a black stripe through the eyes, a straight grey bill and a black crown. The nuthatch has a peculiar habit of eating with its head pointed downward and its tail in the air. It's a year-round resident in the Pacific Northwest. This nuthatch was photographed in Edgewood, Washington State, USA.
